Why Target Competitor Backlinks?

You may be wondering about the logic behind getting backlinks from all the same pages that are already linking to your competitors. Think of it this way... The page ranking #1 in Google for a particular keyword phrase ranks #1 for a reason. (Same thing for the #2 ranking page, #3 ranking page, and so on.) A large part of that reason is the backlinks those pages have. So it makes perfect sense to identify those backlinks and go get them yourself.

You might be thinking, "But if I just go get the exact same backlinks the top-ranking site has, will Google really reward me for basically copying what they have?
