KW density still in the picture?   February 19, 2012, 04:21 PM

I can't seem to recall if it's covered in the training or not and have been searching with no success. Are we to worry at all anymore about keyword density in the articles, hubpages, blog posts, etc we post pointing back to our site?

Not really. Just make sure you use your targeted keyword phrase liberally on the page. No need to look at percentages or anything like that.

I don't fully understand the logic in worrying about liberal use of keywords in an off-site blog post. I'm trying to get my website to rank well - not one of my blogs. These external blogs (or hub pages) are there just to create links to your main site, I thought.

I thought that as long as it had the keyword once or twice (with one being the main anchor text to my website) and some LSI keywords here and there, all was good. I guess it's time to learn something new or re-think things again (sigh).

Thanks, Dave.

Scooter, I think that what you're doing is what Dave is saying we should do. I ask the question because "some people" back in the day made a big to-do about KW density in our external pages.

I like this better though.

A

When I used to own a health and fitness domain 2 years ago, my blog was ranked 1st page of Google rank 3 for 1 keyword and page 3 rank 2 for another keyword before I gave it up. Most of my articles where purely because of my field in Health and Fitness and very rarely did I ever use the same keywords that my domain was and that I was trying to rank for.

I bet making those adjustments would have improved my rankings, but regardless of using too much or too little doesn\'t necessarily make a big difference as long as the content remains unique and reads well, I am pretty sure the likes of Google praise that.
