Growth Opportunities For Your Store

HIGHLIGHTS:

There are 3 basic ways to expand your business:
  1. Add new products and/or brands to your store

    • You may want to consider adding complementary products your supplier carries that aren't currently available in your store

    • Once you've established some good rankings and you're getting a fair amount of traffic, you'll likely have much greater success getting manufacturers to dropship products for you (even if they turned you down originally)

    • Since customers like to do all of their shopping at the same site, sometimes adding frequently requested accessories or complementary products to your store (even if they don't have great profit margins) can lead to more sales of your core product line

  2. Go after additional keyword phrases within your micro niche

    • Use Coach's Keyword Tool OR the Competitor Analyzer in the SEO Toolkit to research additional keyword phrases you can target

    • Just as before, look for keyword phrases where both the daily searches and the MOS are green & bold

    • You may want to go after a higher-volume, slightly more competitive keyword phrase that is contained within the primary keyword phrase you chose initially (i.e. 'dog houses' is contained within 'insulated dog houses') - but make sure the MOS is at least 60 or 65

    • Sometimes there are category-specific, brand-specific, or even model-specific keyword phrases that are relevant to your store that don't have incredibly high daily search volumes but have extremely high MOSs (80s or 90s) - you may want to start targeting these phrases on your category pages, brand pages, or even product pages

    • Sometimes the additional potential traffic to be had just isn't worth the time & effort and it makes more sense to just start a brand new store (see below)

  3. Launch a brand new store

    • Consider building an additional store within the same micro niche if the new keyword phrase you want to target is substantially different from the keyword phrase your current store is targeting

    • Consider building a new store in the same general market (but not the exact same micro niche), utilizing products already available to you from your current supplier(s)

    • Consider building a new store in a totally different market (there are thousands of attractive micro niches out there!)

    • Since you can re-use your DBA, merchant account, and toll-free number for additional stores, your monthly cost for each additional store is only the $29.97 cost for Zulu Cart (probably less than 1 sale's worth of profit)
