Identifying Brand Names to Target
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Goal: Generate a list of ALL the brand names within your micro niche
- You can be successful carrying just 1 brand name, even if it's not one of the most popular brand names in your market
- We recommend starting out with just 1 brand name (after your store is built & launched & starting to rank well in Google, you can - and oftentimes should - go back and add more brand names later)
Methods for identifying the brand names in your micro niche:
- Do a Google search for your top keyword phrase, visit the top-ranking sites, and look for a list of brand names in the side bar or in a filter/sort option across the top of the page (or in product titles)
- Enter your main keyword phrase in Coach's Keyword Tool, scroll through the list of related phrases, and look for keyword phrases that have a brand name in them
- Go to Google Shopping, search for you main keyword phrase, and look for a list of all the brand names in the left side bar
- Go to any of the major shopping portals (FrogIt, TheFind, BizRate, etc.), search for your main keyword phrase, and look for a list of brand names shown in the 'filter by brand' menu
