Introduction to Find a Supplier for Your Store

HIGHLIGHTS:

PLEASE SEE IMPORTANT NOTE BELOW

Chapter Goal: Find at least 1 supplier with good profit margins that is willing to dropship for you

Overview of the dropship model:
  • Customer orders a product from you & pays retail price ($100)
  • You forward the order info to the dropship supplier & pay wholesale price ($75)
  • Your dropship supplier ships the product directly to the customer
Benefits of using the dropship model:
  • No upfront cost to purchase a large stock of inventory
  • No risk - you don't have to purchase any inventory until after you've sold it
  • No warehouse or overhead costs
  • No hassle shipping orders
IMPORTANT NOTE: We're in the process of re-shooting several of the Chapter 2 & 3 videos to put the steps in a new order that makes it easier to establish dropship relationships with suppliers. The new videos should be up shortly. In the meantime, we've shuffled the original videos around to put them in the correct order, adding "annotations" where necessary. Please read THIS ARTICLE for an overview of the new process flow and an explanation of why we've changed the order of the steps.

Here is our NEW & IMPROVED step-by-step process for finding a supplier for your store:
  1. Identify the top brand names in your micro niche
  2. Identify the manufacturers of those brands
  3. PREPARE to contact manufacturers by:
    • Purchasing a domain name
    • Subscribing to Zulu Cart & quickly setting up a simple placeholder affiliate-based store
    • Getting a DBA so you can approach potential suppliers as a "business" (optional)
  4. Contact manufacturers & set up a reseller account
  5. Convert your store into a dropshipping-based ecommerce store (OR expand your affiliate-based store)
