- General rule: Try to spend the majority of your time on activities that actually increase your bottom line (i.e. increasing traffic and boosting your conversion rate)
- Set up a specific block of time each day for processing orders and handling customer service rather than doing it throughout the day as orders come in
- Make time to work on SEO on a consistent, regular basis (at leat 2-3 one-hour blocks of time each week) - don't let SEO always take a "back seat" just because it doesn't have a deadline
- Do monthly reviews and set goals with deadlines for yourself... and then make it happen!
- Stay focused on the 2 keys to success: 1) driving traffic, and 2) converting visitors into paying customers
- When you get to the point that you're generating a fair amount of profit, consider outsourcing non-critical, maintenance-type tasks to other people
- Try to free up your time to do higher-level, big-picture type tasks like starting a new store or finding an additional supplier
