- 7. Maximize Your Store's Profit

- Optimal Store Operations
Optimal Store Operations
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Periodically you'll want to check out your top competitors' prices and make sure that your prices are still competitive (use the same processed already discussed here)
- Periodically check your shopping portal feeds to make sure that they are up-to-date and active
- Check out this List of Online Shopping Portals you may want to list your products in
- Read through this article about How to Process an Order
- Make sure to read this article on How to Avoid Fraudulent Orders
- Use sales banner ads (which are available in Store Coach's Graphics Shop to 1) make your store look up to date, 2) create a sense of urgency, and 3) call customers to action
- You don't really need to run true "sales" where you've actually cut the prices, but use Zulu Cart's dual pricing feature to make it appear your products are discounted off their regular (MSRP) price
- In your A/B split testing, test out whether coupon codes (promo codes) are effective or not (in Zulu Cart, you can set up coupons and also specify whether to show the coupon code field during checkout or not)
- Download and use this Accounting Spreadsheet to keep track of and account for orders
- Set up a business checking account and run all transactions through it (rather than co-mingling your business activities in your personal account), which will make your accounting much easier (net profit = money in - money out)
- Periodically (and especially before making a major change on your website), you should create a back-up of your site (see these Instructions for Backing Up Your Store)
- Periodically (every 2-4 weeks, or at least whenever you add new pages to your site), make sure to submit your sitemap (which is auto-generated by Zulu Cart) to Google Webmaster Tools (see these Instructions for Submitting Your Sitemap to Google Webmaster Tools)
