- These first few videos in Part 1 of Chapter 6 cover SEO concepts and principles that will give you a good foundation for SEO
- Think of Google as a super-knowledgeable librarian
- Doing a search on Google is like walking into the library and asking the librarian (aka Mr. Google): "What's the best science fiction novel?"
- (Mr.) Google considers a whole bunch of factors, giving some factors more weight (importance) than others, to put together the 'Top 10' list - this calculation is called an algorithm
- The key to getting ranked (i.e. SEO) is simply understanding which factors Google cares about and then optimizing your pages for those factors
- Google ranks web pages, not websites - each page is independent from each other
- Rankings in Google are specific to unique keyword phrases; rankings are NOT "universal" for all "related" keyword phrases
- A particular page might rank #1 for phrase A, #8 for phrase B, and #36 for phrase C
- You will have a unique ranking for each separate keyword phrase in your micro niche
- Your main focus should be to get your HOME PAGE (which is just another page on your website) ranked for the 1-2 keyword phrases you've chosen
